Woman: 72-year-old woman raped by 26-year-old | Surat News

Surat: A 72-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man 26 years younger than her in Kothi village near Bharuch. On July 13, accused Arjun Vasava noticed that the woman was alone after her three grandchildren had gone to school and her son and his wife had gone to work on the farm in Kothi village. When the woman was working in the courtyard of the house, Vasava barged in and dragged the woman into the kitchen where he raped her at knifepoint. Vasava fled and some people informed the woman’s family members who took her to the hospital. Police nabbed Vasava on Monday after the survivor filed a rape complaint. Vasava is a contractual worker with GNFC. The woman also goes to work daily but on July 13, she was at home as she could not find any work.
