Investigation into alleged hit-and-run on Highway 287

WICHITA COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) – Police along Highway 287 west of Wichita County are searching for a man who may have been involved in a hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

This happened around 6:40 p.m. on US 287 westbound at the Rifle Range Road exit.


Sheriff David Duke said they were still trying to gather more information but were working on a case of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

According to Sheriff Duke, the suspect is described as a black male who left the scene in a white box truck and headed north on 287.

Officials said other counties west of Wichita County have also been notified and authorities are monitoring the situation.

No further information has been provided so far. The case is not yet closed.
