Rikers inmate who escaped from custody at Bellevue Hospital re-arrested, police said

RIKERS ISLAND — A Rikers Hospital inmate who escaped from Bellevue Hospital on June 26 is back in custody, police said.

James Mossetty, 35, was arrested and charged with prison escape on Tuesday, police said.

Mossetty escaped from the hospital in June as corrections officials prepared to take him back to Rikers Island.

He was taken to Bellevue on June 5th for a medical issue.

Mossetty was arrested on January 6, 2024, in Manhattan on charges of assault, illegal possession of a controlled substance, and theft of services.
