Update: 8-year-old girl dies in Amish horse-drawn carriage accident in Virginia

An accident in County of Cumberland An 8-year-old girl was killed in an accident involving an Amish horse-drawn carriage on Sunday, according to an update released today by Virginia State Police.

The car was hit from behind by a Ford F250 truck driven by Mack H. Robinson75, of Farmville. Robinson was not injured in the accident.

Charges are still pending.

As a result of the accident, all passengers were thrown out of the vehicle.

Enos King34, the coachman, and Katherine Koenig, 35, of Farmville, and four other juvenile passengers sustained serious injuries. Among the juvenile passengers were two boys, ages 9 and 2, and two girls, ages 6 and 4. All were taken to VCU Medical Center.

The horse suffered minor injuries in the collision.

State police report the two-vehicle crash occurred at 6:16 p.m. on Cumberland Road near the intersection with Blanton Farm Road.

The crash remains under investigation.
