Officials launch investigation after body found near rural road in Owen County

OWEN COUNTY, Indiana – An investigation has been launched after a man’s body was found in Owen County on Monday.

According to the Owen County Sheriff’s Office, Malik Sims’ body was found by sheriff’s deputies on a “rural county road” on Monday. At this time, the sheriff’s office did not release the exact name of the road or area where Sims was found.


The cause of death remains under investigation pending the completion of the autopsy, which is scheduled to be performed by the Owen County Coroner. The OCSO said no further information would be made available to the public to “protect the integrity of the case.”

Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Bloomington Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
