Tampa police are asking for help in a shooting that left a teenager dead

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police continue to search for a suspect or suspects in the killing of a teenager.

Police officers, along with Jevario Buie’s family, pleaded with the public on Thursday to come forward with any information.

Tampa police have released new video as they investigate the 14-year-old’s murder. Buie’s mother and grandmother were present when it was announced that the reward for tips leading to the identification of the suspect or suspects had been increased to $20,000.

The two women did not comment, but Buie’s grandfather issued a statement so the public could comment at Buie’s funeral on May 4.

“Jevario simply didn’t die – Jevario was murdered, and we really need the community’s help to bring these people to the attention of law enforcement,” said Buie’s grandfather, Michael Baldwin.

Family and law enforcement have been searching for answers for nearly a month.

Police said Buie was found shot to death on April 17 along railroad tracks near Busch Boulevard.

“We need our community to move forward,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “We know someone out there knows something. Anyone can register. You can even remain anonymous.”

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, the ATF, the Florida Attorney General’s Office and community partners, including Titus O’Neal, have joined together to increase the size of this reward.
