NKY Health issues second overdose alert for Boone County this month

This month, a second overdose alert was issued by Northern Kentucky health authorities in Boone County. The first alert, issued the first week of July, came after authorities reported 17 nonfatal cases of suspected overdoses between June 25 and July 2. A second alert was issued Tuesday after four overdoses were reported in a 24-hour period. According to health authorities, Boone County has seen 48 overdoses in the past 30 days, including 28 in July. In response to the increase in overdoses, NKY Health’s Harm Reduction Team will distribute naloxone and other harm reduction supplies and educational materials at Olive Garden & Smokey Bones on Mall Road in Florence on Tuesday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, the Harm Reduction Team will be onsite at Dream St. in Florence on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and at the Walton Fire Department on July 29.
