Music producer Irv Gotti sued for sexual harassment and abuse

Music producer and co-founder of Murder Inc. Records, Irv Gotti, is accused of sexual assault and abuse.

In a lawsuit filed in Miami on July 11, an unidentified woman alleged that Gotti, 54, raped and abused her over the course of a two-year period between 2020 and 2022. According to the complaint, obtained by PEOPLE, the plaintiff first met the producer in 2020 through a mutual friend at a poker game.

After they met, the Jane Doe claims, Gotti invited her on a vacation to St. Martin, where the music producer allegedly forced her to have sex with him. According to the lawsuit, “Gotti specifically threatened plaintiff that he would send her home if she did not comply with his demands. Accordingly, and because of his power and influence in the music world, she complied.”

After returning from vacation, the plaintiff claims, she and Gotti entered into a relationship that lasted until 2022. During that time, she claims, she was “constantly abused.”

The woman claims the DJ forced her to perform oral sex on him in a Miami hotel elevator in January 2022. She also claims he forced her to perform oral sex again later that year, this time in the back of an Uber in Atlanta.

In the complaint, the person concerned claims: “As a result of this sexually abusive relationship, the plaintiff suffered severe emotional and psychological harm, which required her to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital.”

At press time, PEOPLE was unable to reach a representative for Gotti.

“She suffered a lot,” the plaintiff’s attorney, Adriana AlcaldeIn, tells PEOPLE, before pointing to the #MeToo movement, which is helping women feel more comfortable speaking out. “I think now women feel a little more empowered to tell their story.”

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and damages.

Gotti is best known for his work in the hip hop industry. Over the years he has collaborated with JAY-Z, Ja Rule, Ashanti and Kanye West, among others.
