Authorities in Wisconsin make arrests after months-long stalking investigation

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – After a long and drawn-out investigation, police in Wisconsin have arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with a stalking case.

According to a press release, officers with the Janesville Police Department made an arrest in a domestic stalking case after being notified of safety concerns related to the victim.


The investigation stemmed from a previous domestic relationship with the suspect, 47-year-old Shawn Ross. Officers were able to gather evidence that the suspect engaged in stalking behavior in person and through electronic mechanisms.

On July 13, a search warrant was executed on Ross’ home. Detectives are still examining a large amount of evidence seized from the home.

Wisconsin District Court records show that Ross is charged with the following:

  • stalking
  • Misuse of ID data – avoid punishment
  • Theft of mail (30 or more items)

Bail was set at $500,000 and Ross is prohibited from having any contact with the victim or his immediate family and is prohibited from being within a half-mile of the 1000 block of Quail Lane.

Ross will return to the Rock County Courthouse for his initial appearance on July 16 at 3 p.m.

This incident remains under investigation and no further details have been released.
