A third suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder following what police say was a gang-related shooting in Jennings last month.

Jonah Uriah Landry, 23, of Jennings was arrested Monday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office while fishing on a pier in Cameron Parish.

In connection with the shooting, Landry is charged with attempted premeditated murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying or discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and several traffic violations.

“The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and additional arrests may be made,” Det. Eduadro Mendoza of the Jennings Police Department said Tuesday. “We are actively working on this at this time.”

Mendoza said Landry was the prime suspect in the shooting, which occurred on June 20 near the intersection of South Main Street and Levi Street in Jennings.

Landry is said to have fired shots from his vehicle at a passing vehicle before fleeing the scene. One of the bullets hit a 22-year-old victim in the leg.

Two other suspects, Tanner Wayne Matt, 26, of Gueydan and Tarvis Dwayne Williams, 28, of Lake Arthur, were arrested on numerous charges in connection with the shooting.

Matt was arrested on two counts of aiding and abetting attempted premeditated murder and three counts of contempt of court. Williams was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting attempted premeditated murder, aiding and abetting the illegal discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice.
