Man shot dead in Atwater, police said

ATWATER, Calif. (KFSN) – An investigation is underway after police reported that a man was shot in Atwater.

According to police, it happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday in the area of ​​Cedar Avenue and Packers Street.

Authorities were initially alerted to a call about shots fired at Elm Avenue and High Street when they were notified of a possible victim at the other intersection.

Police found a man in his twenties with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Authorities have not released any information about what led to the shooting. There is currently no information about the shooter.

The victim was not identified.
