Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nanny fired after nighttime incident

Shortly after the birth of Prince Archie in May 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hired an additional nanny to care for the newborn royal while they juggled their royal duties. According to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in 2020 Finding freedomthis decision turned out to be a mistake.

“They decided to hire a night nurse to create a sleep schedule and be available as an extra helping hand,” the authors revealed.

“But their time with the couple was short,” they added. “Meghan and Harry were forced to let the nurse go in the middle of her second night because she was unprofessional and irresponsible.”

It was never made clear what exactly prompted Harry and Meghan, or either of them, to fire the night nurse. This “night-time incident” has led some critics of the couple online to suspect everything from infidelity on the Duke’s part to possible neglect of Archie’s needs.

Regardless of the reason, the new dismissal resulted in the soon-to-be “Megxit”-ready royal rebels being hired Lorren Khumalowho spoke about her experiences in the Sussexes’ household in the final days of her short-lived royal career.

The pediatric nurse began working for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shortly after Archie’s birth in May 2019, when both were still working royals and living at Frogmore Cottage.

“I thought to myself, ‘I wonder what their nannies look like, do they wear heels?’ Prince William has a Norland nanny so they have a brown uniform and I knew it wouldn’t suit my skin colour and the way she looks in khaki brown, that just wouldn’t work,” Khumalo revealed. “So (I thought) I’ll wear something dark and nice kitten heels but I’ll look presentable for a royal so I have to look my best. But I didn’t use any makeup, I said if they take me, they’ll take me as I am.”

She continued: “I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I am not a blue blood, I will go as I am and trust my God, I will get this job.”

The nurse said she expected to see a “royal somebody in these very expensive German, Swiss suits or something like that,” but the Duke of Sussex was dressed casually in a T-shirt and blue jeans, and His Royal Highness was walking around the estate barefoot. “And I kept asking his PPO, his bodyguard, ‘Do I curtsy, do I have to?’ And he just looked at me and laughed and said, ‘You’ll see, Prince Harry is incredible.'”
