Man dies in work accident in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY – A man has died following an industrial accident in Jackson County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials told us that officers were called to Dexter Stamping in Sandstone Township just after 8 a.m. on Monday, July 15.

We were told that a 36-year-old employee was moving a heavy die-cast part with a crane when a chain failed, causing the weight to shift. The die-cast part fell and struck the man, who died.

Deputies say drugs and alcohol do not appear to play a role in the investigation.
