Rapist receives life sentence in CTG

CHATTOGRAM, July 16, 2024 (BSS) – A court in Chattogram today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl in the Narayanhat hill area of ​​Fatikchari upazila in the district in 2019.

Judge of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7, Begum Ferdouse Ara, delivered the verdict and sentenced Mohammad Parvaj alias Masud, a resident of the above-mentioned area.

The court also imposed a fine of 200,000 taka on him, failing which he will have to serve another one-year prison term.

According to the prosecution, Parvaj raped his 15-year-old sister-in-law and filmed the act with a hidden cell phone on August 5, 2019.

Later, on September 15, 2019, Parvaj raped the girl again by intimidating her that he would make the video footage viral.

Later, the victim’s sister filed a rape complaint against Parvaj at Fatichari Thana on September 27.

The police filed the chargesheet with the court on November 17, while the court framed the charges on October 17, 2021.

After hearing nine of twelve witnesses for the prosecution, the court passed a verdict and found Parvaj alias Masud guilty.

The convicted person was present when the verdict was announced.
