Extreme heat continues, isolated thunderstorms possible – NBC4 Washington

On Monday, temperatures officially reached 102°C, a new record. The last time it was this hot was on July 8, 2012.

The high temperature forecast for Tuesday is 102°, after DC reached the same temperature on Monday. If the region reaches 101° or higher on Tuesday, it will be three days in a row above 101°. That has only happened once before, in 1930.

The heat index is expected to rise to 110° on Tuesday, making the day feel even hotter.

Storm Team4 remains in weather warning again today as another heat warning is in effect from 11am to 8pm.

High heat and humidity can lead to heat-related illness. Stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and find ways to cool down today.

Heat warnings are in effect for DC and parts of Maryland and Virginia, including Prince George’s, Montgomery, Arlington and Fairfax counties. Find all weather warnings here.

Make sure you have the necessary heat protection and know the signs of heat-related illnesses.

There may be isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Any storms could be as severe as those on Monday.

Excessive heat throughout the middle of the week

It will be hot again on Wednesday with temperatures around 30 degrees. More rain is expected on Wednesday, but the good news is that after the rain comes cooler air.

You can expect some relief from the heat from Thursday onwards. Maximum temperatures of over 30 degrees are then expected until Sunday.
