1 dead and 1 seriously injured after crash in Freetown

FREETOWN, Massachusetts (WPRI) – A New Bedford man was killed in a car crash in the Assonet neighborhood of Freetown late Sunday night.

Rescue crews arriving at the scene of the accident on Copicut Road around 11:30 p.m. found a 1997 Jeep Wrangler that had crashed into the woods.


According to police, the driver, 28-year-old Edmund Arsenault Jr., was ejected from the vehicle and was unconscious. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No word on what caused the crash.
