Redding man arrested for multiple gun possession charges after verbal altercation | News

REDDING, California. – A Redding man was arrested on multiple weapons charges following a verbal altercation, Redding police said.

At around 6 p.m., Redding police officers responded to a report that a man had pulled out a gun during an altercation near 1280 Dana Drive.

None of those involved contacted the police, police said. However, concerned citizens reported the incident by telephone.

Officers found 18-year-old Zachary Peterson in the Target parking lot. He was arrested and an investigation was launched.

The investigation revealed that there was a verbal argument between Peterson and an unidentified man, police said.

During that altercation, the unidentified man pulled bear spray from his pocket and sprayed Peterson, police said.

According to police, Peterson pulled out a loaded .45 caliber pistol, whereupon the unidentified man fled.







Ghost Weapon 7-15




Peterson attempted to hide the gun in the store, but area residents helped officers recover the weapon, police said.

After examining the weapon, officers determined it was a loaded ghost gun because there were no serial numbers or identification markings, police said.

Peterson was arrested on several weapons charges and taken to the Shasta County Jail.
