Seven people arrested after alleged gang rape of minor in Jalpaiguri tea garden

The incident occurred when the minor was visiting a friend’s house in Jalpaiguri in Dooars, West Bengal. All seven accused will be produced in court today.

A minor was allegedly gang-raped by a seven-person group in a tea garden in Jalpaiguri in Dooars district. The incident took place in Metili police station (PS) limits when the minor was visiting a friend’s house. The victim’s family lodged a complaint about the gruesome crime at Metili police station on Monday. A video of the gang-rape was also allegedly recorded.

The Metili police promptly acted on the complaint, initiated investigations and arrested all seven accused. The arrests were made after raids by the district police at various locations in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts on Monday evening.

Confirming the arrests, Umesh Ganpat Khandbahale, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jalpaiguri, said, “Based on the complaint, we have initiated investigation and arrested seven persons. A minor complained of gang rape by seven persons. The arrests were made during a raid in Shamuktala and Jateshwar areas of Alipurduar. The accused will be produced before the court today.”
