Police investigate fatal shooting near I-5 in Tacoma

According to Tacoma police, the man was found with gunshot wounds on East 28th Street shortly before 8 p.m.

TACOMA, Wash. – Tacoma police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred near Interstate 5 Monday night.

According to TPD, officers found a man with gunshot wounds on East 28th Street just before 8 p.m. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the man died before he could be transported to a local hospital.

The Washington State Patrol and Puyallup Tribal Police also arrived at the scene.

The TPD is investigating the case as a homicide, but it is still unclear what led to the shooting.

No information on possible suspects has been released.

According to footage from the Washington State Department of Transportation, an exit near Portland Avenue was closed while officers investigated.
