Severe weather warning until 5 a.m. for large parts of the Detroit metropolitan area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, as a thunderstorm front moves toward the Detroit metropolitan area.

What is a severe weather warning?

The NWS issues severe weather warning for an area where severe thunderstorms are possible. The warning is intended to encourage people to prepare for potentially severe weather.

Severe thunderstorms are possible in the Detroit metropolitan area between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16.

A flood warning is also in effect for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 8 a.m. Tuesday.

At midnight, a flood warning will go into effect for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties due to the possibility of excessive rainfall. (WDIV)
