Comer to lead House Secret Service investigation into Trump assassination attempt | News

MURRAY – At a meeting with Calloway County officials in Murray on Monday, Congressman James Comer said he wants to find out what went wrong when a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed former President Donald Trump’s ear over the weekend.

The nation and the world were shocked Saturday night when news broke that someone had tried to shoot Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The suspected gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was immediately gunned down by police snipers on the nearby rooftop from which the shots had apparently been fired. According to NBC News, in addition to Crooks, the incident resulted in the death of 50-year-old former firefighter Corey Comperatore and the wounding of two others – 57-year-old David Dutch of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and 74-year-old James Copenhaver of Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
