Dangerous heat until Tuesday with possible storms

NOW FORECAST FROM WGAL NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM WITH METEOROLOGIST ETHAN HOUSTON. SUNSHINE AND FLASHING HEAT MAKE TODAY AND TOMORROW WARNING DAYS AS IT WILL FEEL LIKE TEMPERATURES WILL BE OVER 100 DEGREES AT TIMES. SO EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY UNTIL 8:00 PM TOMORROW. OUTSIDE, TEMPERATURES JUST DROPPED A FEW DEGREES BECAUSE WE HAD SOME TEMPORARY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS. WHERE? 94 IN LANCASTER, BUT IT STILL FEELS LIKE 100 CONSIDERING THE HUMIDITY. IN THE CURRENT PERIOD IT’S RELATIVELY CALM OUT ON LIVE LOCAL 8, JUST AN IRRITATING RAIN SHOWER IN SOUTHERN PARTS OF YORK COUNTY. BUT SOME OF THOSE STORMS FROM EARLIER HAVE MADE IT REALLY DROPPED AND THAT’S GOING TO BE THE THREAT FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AS WELL. WE HAVE REPORTS OF TREES UP AND DOWNED LINES. YOU CAN SEE THIS FALLEN TREE RIGHT NOW IN PARTS OF NORTH YORK, THANKS TO MICHAEL MOFFIT FOR ALLOWING US TO USE THESE VIEWER IMAGES RIGHT NOW. AS THE EVENING PROGRESSES, MOST OF US WILL STAY DRY, BUT SOME LIGHT RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE. TEMPERATURES WILL FEEL LIKE THEY WILL BE IN THE MID 90S. AIR TEMPERATURES WILL DROPS TO ALMOST 90S BY SUNSET. THERE COULD BE SOME LIGHT RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS UNTIL AROUND MIDNIGHT, AND THE NIGHT WILL REMAIN HUMBLE, WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY DROPPING TO AROUND 72 TO 76. TOMORROW WE’LL DO IT ALL AGAIN. Highs will be back in the 100s, but considering the humidity in the afternoon and evening hours could feel like today’s. It’s up to 110 degrees. That’s a dangerous level of high heat and humidity. There could be some scattered showers and thunderstorms again, and I expect the heat to linger longer. We’re talking about it. It feels like temperatures around or above 100 degrees for about 8 to 10 hours. Here’s a look at the chance of rain. Scattered at best tonight. THAT’S WHAT IT’S GOING TO BE TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND TOMORROW EVENING AS WELL, AND SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD REALLY HIT, WITH SOME GUSTS LIKE WE SAW TODAY THAT KILLED SOME OF THESE TREES AND LADDERS, AS WELL AS SOME HEAVY RAIN STORMS THAT COULD CAUSE SOME SMALL, LOCAL FLOODING. TODAY IT WAS 99. THAT’S THE RECORD HIGH FOR THIS DAY. SET IN 1995. TOMORROW WE’LL BE CLOSE TO THAT AGAIN AT THE AIRPORT. RIGHT NOW IT’S 93. IT’S 94. IN LANCASTER A RAIN HAS COOLED DOWN THE 87 TEMPERATURE IN YORK DUE TO THE EVENING STORMS THAT PASSED THROUGH EARLIER. BUT LOOK, IN GETTYSBURG IT’S STILL 102 DEGREES WHERE IT FEELS LIKE 107 DEGREES, IN LEBANON IT FEELS LIKE IT’S ALMOST 100 DEGREES RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN THANK THE INCREDIBLY HIGH HUMIDITY. IT’S TROPICALLY HIGH HUMIDITY, LIKE SOUP AIR THAT YOU CAN CARRY OVER THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. AND THAT INTENSE HUMIDITY EXTENDS ALL THE WAY TO OUR WEST. THERE IS RELIEF. IN THE DAKOTAS, DEW POINTS ARE BACK IN THE 50S. THEY ARE AGAIN BEHIND A COLD FRONT THAT WILL EVENTUALLY PASS THROUGH. LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. SO WE HAVE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE NORTHERN PARTS OF PENNSYLVANIA. SOME OF THAT STORM ENERGY MAY STILL TRIGGER A SCORPION OF RAIN HERE IN THE VALLEY UNTIL ABOUT MIDNIGHT. THEN IT WILL CALM DOWN OVERNIGHT, AND THEN YOU HAVE TO GET READY FOR MORE, UNLAWFUL RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS TO COME UP WITH THIS HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY. TOMORROW. THE CHANCE OF SPOTS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS IS WEDNESDAY. AHEAD OF THE INCOMING COLD FRONT, SOME OF THESE STORMS COULD BE STRONG AND HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL STILL BE HIGH. IT COULD STILL FEEL LIKE 100. SO WEDNESDAY IS A BLOWING DAY. TOMORROW AND WEDNESDAY IT WILL BE SO DARK GRAY. YOUR THURSDAY, SEASONALLY, AIR CONDITIONED. AND IT WILL BE MORE COMFORTABLE BY THE TIME OF FRIDAY. AS THE WEEKEND COMES CLOSER, TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL BE TROUBLE DOWN. TEMPERATURES WILL SETTLE NEAR SEASONAL AVERAGE, WITH HIGHS RANGING ABOVE 30 DEGREES TO NEARLY 90 DEGREES. WITH INCREASING CHANCES FOR THESE SCATTERED SHOWS
