Emergency numbers in Ada County not affected after possible cybersecurity incident

ADA COUNTY, ID – The Ada County Sheriff’s Office has taken Ada County Computer Aided Dispatch offline following a possible cybersecurity incident. However, 911 and other emergency numbers are unaffected and dispatchers are still taking calls and dispatching police, fire or paramedics.

Late in the evening of July 13, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office noticed unusual activity in its emergency communications environment, according to a press release.

The incident is under investigation and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office is working with nationally recognized third-party cybersecurity and data forensics consultants to assist. Police have taken the affected systems offline while the investigation is ongoing.

In the meantime, dispatchers are continuing to use backup systems and processes to continue to send help where it is needed. More information will be released as it becomes available.
