Ocala police offer $9,500 reward in murder investigation – WFTV

OCALA, Fla. – Ocala police have increased the reward for a murder case that has been under investigation for more than two weeks without any arrests.

On June 29, police responded to a crime scene in a neighborhood in Ocala.

When they arrived, they found a woman shot dead.

She was later identified as 31-year-old Faye Porter.

The investigation is ongoing. Our investigators are gathering information and following up on all leads. We ask that the public contact us immediately if they have any information,” said Jeff Walczack of the Ocala PD.

The crime occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Northwest 20th Avenue.

The location is not far from Lillian Bryant Park in Ocala.

Back in June, investigators put up posters calling on anyone with information that could help the police to come forward.

The reward money came from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Now, weeks later and still without much information about the case, the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers, in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office, has increased the reward by $6,500, bringing the total to $9,500.

“It is important that the community be involved in this case because it will move the investigation forward,” Walczack said.

While neighbors agreed to speak on camera, they said they were surprised that such a case could happen in their community and hoped someone would soon be held accountable for the crime.

“This was an isolated case. Our detectives are currently working to gather information,” said Walczack.
