Man arrested after serious assault

Last weekend, officers from the Olympia Police Department (OPD) responded to an attack on the east side of City.

Accordingly a OPD postThe incident occurred outside an apartment complex where a man allegedly tried to start a fight with residents.

“Witnesses reported that the suspect walked up to a man who was sitting with a friend, grabbed him by his shirt and threw him to the ground. The suspect then ‘stomped’ on the victim’s head., which caused him to lose consciousness immediately,” OPD said in the post.

The suspect then fled into the nearby forest.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) canine unit was dispatched to assist in the search for the suspect.

Based on the witnesses’ statements, the officers immediately determined a perimeter and the support of the K9 unitThe suspect was located and arrested.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect was booked into the Thurston County Jail on a charge of first degree assault. The investigation in this incident is at the moment constantly.
