1-year-old boy dies after Alameda shooting that left 4 other people dead

A 1-year-old boy injured in a domestic violence shooting at an Alameda home last week has died, police said Monday.

The shooting also killed the boy’s mother, his 6-year-old brother and his maternal grandparents. The boy, identified as Wesley, died at a hospital, police said.

The names of the other victims have not yet been released.

Police and prosecutors say the boy’s father, Shane Killian, 54, shot the victims. Killian was charged in Alameda County Superior Court with four counts of murder and attempted murder, among other charges. District Attorney Pamela Price’s office said Killian faces more than 200 years in prison if convicted.

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. Wednesday at the family’s home on Kitty Hawk Road. A neighbor told police Killian’s father-in-law was injured outside the home.

Police arrested Killian at the scene and confiscated several weapons.

The family is relatively new to the neighborhood; they only moved into the house where the shooting took place six months ago, Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi said at a press conference Thursday morning.
