WASHINGTON, Pa. – A Washington County man who worked in the probation department has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Zachary Nee was arrested overnight after a lengthy investigation began in Ohio.

The parents of a 13-year-old girl contacted police after Nee allegedly sent their daughter sex items in the mail. According to police, the two communicated via Snapchat.

Police in Peter’s Township seized electronic devices from Nee’s home and filed nearly 100 child pornography charges.

In one exchange, the teen mentioned the age difference and Nee allegedly said, “I know, I said I was sorry. But I need you, I want to be with you until I die.”

Law enforcement leaders, including the Peter’s Township police chief and the Washington County district attorney, told WPXI’s Cara Sapida that parents need to check their young teens’ phones and remind them of the dangers of Snapchat and other apps that allow strangers to contact them be able to record.

“You have to be very careful about what kids wear there, it’s very different than it used to be,” Walsh said. “Different time with social media, children are young and vulnerable and there are people out there who want to exploit and manipulate children.

According to police, Nee worked in adult probation and was scheduled to be transferred to juvenile probation shortly before this investigation began. Our inquiries about his current position in the district remained unanswered.
