37-year-old arrested in sexual abuse case in Oconee County

OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) — A West Union man was arrested late last week in connection with a sexual abuse case involving a minor.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on July 9 when a deputy spoke to a family member of the victim about a sexual assault.

The investigation led officers to Douglas Alan Cranfill, who allegedly sexually touched the victim on July 7.

The arrest warrant against Cranfill states that he manipulated the victim’s limbs in order to provide the 37-year-old with sexual gratification.

Cranfill was arrested on July 12 and charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. He was released from jail on July 13 after posting $25,000 bail.
