Rape: Woman drugged and raped; social media ‘boyfriend’ charged | News from Bhopal

Bhopal: A 24-year-old married woman allegedly befriended an accused through social media, who drugged and raped her. Based on her complaint, Bag Sewania police have filed a rape case against the accused and started investigation. The 22-year-old housewife stated in her complaint that the accused, a resident of Kolar, befriended her through Instagram a few months ago. Both started chatting and sharing personal information with each other. The woman claimed that the accused called her on May 1 to meet at his house in Kolar. When she reached there, he offered her a sedative-laced drink and drugged her. When she fell unconscious, the accused raped her and recorded an obscene video of her. When the survivor regained consciousness and protested, the accused threatened to share the video on all social media platforms, police officials said. The frightened woman, fearing social defamation, remained silent. This emboldened the accused and he recently barged into her house when she was alone. He raped and abused her. When she called for help, the neighbours rushed to the scene; however, the accused fled. The woman finally gathered her courage, told her husband about the incident and reported it to the police. Further investigation is underway.
