5-year-old boy found dead in Bronx apartment

A 5-year-old boy was found dead in a messy Bronx apartment, police and sources said Tuesday.

Police were called to Deneil Timberlake’s home on Bassford Avenue near East 182nd Street in Belmont shortly before 3:40 a.m. Sunday, police said.

When they arrived, Deneil was unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics took him to Saint Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The boy showed no obvious signs of trauma and the city coroner will determine the cause of death.

According to reports, there were other children living in the house. The family has already dealt with child protection authorities, PIX reported.

According to sources, Deneil’s parents are cooperating with the police.
