Fairmont woman charged after ignoring child’s complaints of sexual harassment

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) – A Fairmont woman was arrested last week after police confirmed she failed to care for a child who told them he had been sexually abused multiple times.

According to West Virginia State Police, a seven-year-old girl told 34-year-old Chelsea Nice that she had been sexually abused four times and Nice did nothing to help the child.

Nice reportedly saw the victim’s injuries and said she “thought it was a rash.” After being informed of the assault, she repeatedly left the girl in the attacker’s care, police said.

According to the police report, Nice did not report the incidents to the relevant authorities, did not help the victim seek medical examinations or treatment, or took any other steps to prevent future attacks. This led to further attacks.

Nice is charged with four counts of child neglect with personal injury and is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jammer. Bail is set at $200,512.
