Pat Beverley is suspended for the first four games of the 2024-25 NBA season

The NBA has suspended Pat Beverley for the first four games of the 2024-25 season for “forcibly” throwing a basketball at two different fans and having an “inappropriate conversation with a reporter” at the end of the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers on May 2nd.

At the end of Game 6 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Beverley threw the ball once into the line of fans behind the Bucks’ bench and it hit a woman, and after another fan threw the ball back, Beverley threw it back at him with more speed.

When asked about the incident after the game, Beverley told reporters: “No. Don’t worry about it. Nothing.”

Indianapolis police are investigating this interaction.

During that media session, he asked an ESPN producer to leave after she said she wasn’t subscribed to his eponymous podcast. He apologized for this incident.

Speaking about Professional Basketball Writers Association President Howard Beck, NBA spokesman Tim Frank added: “Patrick Beverley’s behavior toward ESPN producer Malinda Adams was unacceptable, unprofessional and did not meet the standard that NBA players expect in their interactions with the NBA always meet the needs of the media.”

Later on his podcast, Beverley stated that he had heard inappropriate comments from the fans behind the Bucks bench and said he would be “better” in the future.

Beverley, who turns 36 on July 12, was acquired from the Bucks at the trade deadline from Philadelphia for point guard Cam Payne and a 2027 second-round draft choice. Beverley played in 26 games (eight starts) during the regular season, shooting 36% of his shots from behind the three-point line and averaging 6.0 points and 2.6 assists per game.

He started all six playoff games against the Pacers.

Milwaukee was Beverley’s seventh team since joining the NBA with Houston in 2012-13 and his sixth since 2020-21.
