Buffalo Grove student named national scholarship winner

BUFFALO GROVE IL — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation on Monday named the final group of 2024 National Merit Scholars recipients, including a Buffalo Grove student. These named scholars join more than 2,900 other recipients of university-sponsored awards who were announced in June, according to the Evanston-based organization.

Abra C. Giddingsof Buffalo Grove, has been named a recipient of the National Merit Scholarship from Case Western Reserve University. The likely career field for the Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire) student is computer science.

University-sponsored scholarships provide between $500 and $2,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study at the funding institution. A total of 149 universities and colleges are sponsoring approximately 3,700 merit scholarships for 2024. Sponsored universities include 77 private and 72 public institutions located in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
