5-year-old boy found dead in Bronx home: NYPD

THE BRONX, NY (PIX11) — A 5-year-old boy was found dead in his Bronx home early Sunday, police said.

Deneil Timberlake was found unconscious in his home on Bassford Avenue in Belmont around 3:40 a.m., the NYPD said. The boy’s father called 911 and the boy was taken to the hospital but could not be saved, police said.

According to the NYPD, the child showed no obvious signs of trauma. The cause of death is now being determined by the medical examiner.

According to police, the house was in disarray and it appeared that other children were living there. The family has already been in contact with child protection authorities.

The boy’s parents are cooperating with the investigation and are not in police custody, authorities said.
