Gordon Ramsay rides his bike with son Oscar for the first time since his terrible accident

Gordon Ramsay is back on his bike!

On Sunday, July 14, Master Chef The 57-year-old star has been sharing videos of himself cycling on Instagram, accompanied by his 5-year-old son Oscar. His return to cycling comes almost a day after he was injured in a cycling accident in June.

“So good to be back on the bike thanks,” Ramsay wrote in the caption, tagging indoor cycling company Zwift for his training previously during “recovery.”

In the first video, Ramsay filmed himself riding along a river bank. He then panned the camera across the road and asked, “Where is he?” Oscar then appeared, riding alongside him on a blue bike wearing a helmet.

“There he is!” Ramsay shouted. “You’re doing so well, by the way,” he said to Oscar.

The restaurant owner then went through a safety checklist with his son and asked him, “Helmet on, gear shift intact, OK?” Oscar replied, “Yes!” Ramsay then asked, “Eyes on the road, OK?” Oscar shouted back, “Yes!”

“Good boy… here we go,” Ramsay said, turning the camera on himself. “So good to be back on the bike,” he said as Oscar whizzed past him.

As his five-year-old son continued cycling, Ramsay joked about his eldest daughter, 26-year-old Megan, who is a police officer.

“Slow down or the police will catch you speeding,” Ramsay joked to Oscar. “Please don’t get caught speeding. Your sister won’t be impressed.”

Ramsay was accompanied on the bike ride by his daughters and his son Oscar.

Ramsay revealed he was injured while cycling in Connecticut in a June 15 Instagram post, saying he was “really shaken” by the incident and that he was “lucky to be here” while showing off his badly bruised ribs from his injuries in an accompanying video.

“I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m getting through it somehow. But I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet,” he said at the time.

The father of six said he did not break any bones and added that he was “grateful” to have worn a helmet during the incident as it “saved his life”.

“I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care that these helmets cost money… they are essential,” Ramsay continued. “Even on short rides, the kids have to wear a helmet.”
