Competing with state law enforcement agencies across the country, KSP has entered the American Association of State Troopers’ “2024 Best Looking Patrol Car Contest.” The winning photo will be featured on the cover of the association’s 2024 wall calendar, KSP said. This year’s entry reflects Kentucky’s celebrated horse industry.

“Our state police are the best in the country, and one way we can show our support for them is by voting in the best-looking patrol car contest,” Beshear said. “KSP won the contest in 2021 and 2022, and it’s time to reclaim the title. I will cast my vote and encourage the citizens of Kentucky to join me.”

KSP’s post shows a 2024 Ford Mustang GT in front of the Secretariat statue in the roundabout at the intersection of Alexandria Drive and Old Frankfort Pike in Lexington in honor of the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown win and the 150th Kentucky Derby.

“Every year we are overwhelmed by the overwhelming support of the citizens of Kentucky in the national contest for the most beautiful patrol vehicle,” said KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. “While we enjoy the camaraderie between the state’s police departments, we want to win.”

In addition to back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022, KSP has finished in the top five each of the past six years, with Florida winning the contest last year.

Voting is open now through Monday, July 29, at 12:00 p.m. EDT. The agency will post updated results on its Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
