THIS MORNING:

Extreme heat and humidity dominate the weather headlines to start this week. Both today and tomorrow are First Alert Weather Days. Expect highs near 100° this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon. With higher humidity than last weekend, the heat index will be between 100 and 110. A heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The nights will bring little relief. Temperatures after dark will be above 25 degrees for most hours. We expect lows of around 21 degrees.

The chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm today and tomorrow is very low – 20%. The areas with the greatest chance of rain are in eastern and southern Middle Tennessee.

WEDNESDAY:

Our next cold front will move through on Wednesday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain chance 60%. Some areas will not see rain, but many others will.

Wednesday will still be very hot and humid, with a heat index above 35 degrees in the early afternoon. High: 32 degrees.

THURSDAY:

There will be some showers and thunderstorms through Thursday. It will be quite cloudy on Thursday and temperatures will drop. High: 85.

FRIDAY & BEYOND:

Friday promises warm weather for the time of year with alternating clouds and sunshine.

A few showers and thunderstorms are likely on Saturday and Sunday, with typical late July heat and humidity. 30% chance of rain, with partly cloudy skies.
