Man dies after two-vehicle crash outside Porterville | YourCentralValley.com

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was killed in a crash involving an SUV and a semi-trailer outside of Porterville in the area of ​​Highway 190 and Route 208 on Monday, according to CHP officials.

Officials say their investigation indicates that an unidentified 49-year-old man was traveling southbound on Highway 208 in a 2013 GMC Terrain, approaching Highway 190. At the same time, officials say, another man in a semi-trailer pulling two flatbed trailers was traveling westbound on Highway 190, approaching Highway 208.

Officials say the unidentified driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Highway 208, and the front of the GMC struck the right side of the towed pickup truck. According to the CHP, the rear pickup truck rolled over, partially blocking the westbound lane of Highway 190, while the GMC came to a stop on the northbound side of Highway 190.

According to authorities, everyone involved was wearing seat belts, but the unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers were taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center, one with serious injuries and one with minor injuries.

The driver of the semi-trailer truck has not reported any injuries. Officials say it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
