Vikings WR Jordan Addison arrested for drunk driving

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested Friday night in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol said.

Addison was found asleep behind the wheel of a white Rolls-Royce that was blocking a lane on I-105, highway patrol said.

Addison, 22, was arrested at 11:36 p.m. local time after being investigated for drunken driving and was released two hours later, authorities said. His blood alcohol level was not released by authorities.

The arrest came a year after Addison was charged with going 140 mph in a 55 mph zone in Minnesota last July. Addison attributed the incident to an emergency involving his dog and pleaded guilty to speeding while a charge of reckless driving was dropped.

“I will learn from this and not repeat this behavior,” Addison said at the time. “I am truly sorry.”

Friday’s arrest came less than two weeks after Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was one of three people killed in a car crash in Maryland. Jackson, a fourth-round pick in April’s draft, was a passenger.

Alcohol may have played a role in the collision, investigators said.

The Vikings selected Addison in the first round of the 2023 draft out of USC. The 6-foot-tall receiver totaled 70 catches for 911 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie last season, even though the Vikings started with four different quarterbacks.

Addison is slated to return as the focal point of a Vikings offense that is expected to feature either migrant Sam Darnold or rookie JJ McCarthy at quarterback. Addison is part of a receiver room led by Justin Jefferson, the 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year who signed a record-breaking four-year, $140 million contract extension last month.

Last week, Addison attended the Los Angeles premiere of the Netflix series “Receiver,” in which Jefferson plays a major role.
