Maine man arrested in connection with Cushing’s death investigation

Maine authorities say a Cushing man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into deaths in Knox County

A Maine man faces multiple charges in connection with a death in Cushing. The case is currently being investigated by the Maine State Police and Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Mark Gagne, 41, of Cushing, was arrested Friday on charges of desecration of a corpse and obstruction of justice, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety. The Maine Department of Public Safety said state police detectives and other investigators examined the crime scene at 834 River Road on Friday and Saturday. The body of the victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the chief medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the victim’s cause and manner of death. Gagne was transported to the Knox County Jail, where he is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Monday.
