Shooting claims teen’s life in West Philadelphia apartment – ​​NBC10 Philadelphia

A young girl was shot and killed in a West Philadelphia apartment, police said.

Police responded at 9:05 a.m. Monday to a report of a person with a weapon at a residence in the 5900 block of Chancellor Street. When police arrived, they found a 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The teenager was pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m.

No weapons were seized, no arrests were made and police have not released any information about suspects.

As of Sunday evening, 139 murders had been reported in Philadelphia in 2024, 40 percent fewer than in the same period last year, according to Philadelphia police data.
