Driver killed in Metra train accident near Ingleside

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a motorist was killed Monday when his vehicle collided with a commuter train near Ingleside.

Information about the victim was not immediately available on Monday.

The crash occurred before 8 a.m. near the intersection of West Larkin and North Wilson Road, according to police. The sheriff’s office reported that Wilson Road was closed between Illinois Route 134 and Rollins Road after the crash.

The Metra commuter railroad’s website said the train was inbound and expected to arrive in Chicago around 9 a.m. The railroad rerouted trains while Metra authorities investigated the accident.
