Tragic loss of a Bruce High School student in a work accident

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mississippi (WTVA) – The Bruce High School community is mourning the loss of one of its students, Matthew Ware, who was killed in a tragic workplace accident.

Details of the incident have not yet been released as authorities continue their investigation.

The Calhoun County School District issued a statement Friday confirming the devastating news: “A Bruce High School student was killed today in a tragic workplace accident.”

The district expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the Ware family. “Our thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with them as they deal with this devastating loss.”

Bruce High School also paid tribute to Matthew Ware on social media, describing him as a kind-hearted, respectful and polite young man. The school community fondly remembered Ware for his calm presence, caring attitude, friendly smile and trademark hat.

Matthew Ware was just 17 years old at the time of his death.

The entire community mourns the loss of this promising young person, whose presence we will sorely miss.
