1 dead, 6 treated at UVA after Amish horse-drawn carriage accident in Cumberland County

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE NOW) – Six of the seven injured in a collision between a pickup truck and an Amish horse-drawn carriage Sunday night in Cumberland County are being treated at UVA. Their injuries range from serious to life-threatening. One person in the carriage was killed.

State Police Lt. Corinne Geller said the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of Cumberland Road, which is State Route 45 halfway between Cumberland Courthouse and Farmville. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, and there is no information at this time about the possibility of charges.
