VSP: Motorcyclist dead after accident on I-81 in Smyth County | WJHL

SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Interstate 81 in Smyth County Sunday, police report.

Virginia State Police (VSP) reports that at 3:52 p.m., a 2020 Harley Davidson Road Glide was traveling southbound near mile marker 48 when it veered off the left side of the road and struck a railing.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified by VSP as Carl L. Coe, 36, of Hillsville, was ejected from the motorcycle and reportedly died at the scene.

According to VSP, Coe was wearing a helmet.

The crash remains under investigation.
