Police officer arrested for alleged rape of teenager at Lagos police station

The Lagos State Police have announced that they have arrested one of their officers for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Area H of the Command in Ogudu local government area of ​​the state.

According to media reports, the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident but denied reports that the police were protecting the alleged rapist.

Hundeyin said the officer in question had been absent from work since the alleged incident and only turned himself in for questioning on Saturday.

The official, who assured the public that the matter would not be swept under the carpet, said that Police Commissioner Adegoke Fayoade had ordered the Gender Unit of the command to investigate the case immediately.

“The case is being fully investigated. There is no plan to cover up the allegation,” Hundeyin said.

A 17-year-old girl (name withheld) has reported to her parents a case of rape by a superior officer of Area H Command Ogudu in Ojota region.

The girl was the victim of an alleged brutal sexual assault by criminals while trying to recover her allegedly stolen phone.

After taking her statement, the accused officer, having gotten wind of the theft of the phone, offered his help in finding the girl’s missing phone.

It was also revealed that Officer Owolabi allegedly deceived the teenager with false information that police officers had arrested the suspected thief.

The officer then lured the girl with false information. When she arrived at his office, he allegedly raped the girl at gunpoint.
