Russian forces attack Sumy Oblast 302 times in one day

The military administration of Sumy Oblast reported that on May 9, Russian forces attacked Sumy Oblast 302 times in 60 separate attacks throughout the day, firing on 11 communities along the border.

The municipalities of Bilopillia, Yunakivka, Khotin, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Novoslobidske, Seredyna-Buda, Esman, Myropillia and Putyvl were targeted.

Throughout the day, Russia attacked the border communities with mortar, drone, rocket and artillery attacks, while also dropping explosives from drones on two of the communities.

No casualties or injuries were reported.

The town of Velyka Pysarivka, located right on the Ukrainian-Russian border, with a prewar population of about 4,000, saw the majority of reported attacks, with 67 explosions recorded in the area.

Due to the city’s proximity to Russia, Velyka Pysarivka has become a major Russian attack target in recent months. Much of the community’s infrastructure was destroyed by Russian attacks.

The Russian attacks against the Sumy region occurred increasingly destructive in the last few months. Given the increasing attacks, Ukrainian authorities ordered increased attacks Evacuations from the region.
