Earlier this month, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) coach M Manu was accused of sexually assaulting schoolgirls during training and was arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram police. The news reached the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

The Kerala Cricket Association has finally confirmed its stance on the case through a statement by KCA President Jayesh George. “The association stands firmly with the victims and will not protest against Manu. The KCA made mistakes in handling the case. We admit that. We do not justify Manu’s actions. We have decided to revoke his coaching license. He was not just coaching girls. From now on, the KCA will make a police clearance certificate mandatory for new coaches.” The KCA President talks about the necessary measures that will be taken after the incident.

The KCA, with the support of the Child Rights Commission, will also organize a counseling session for the girls being trained at M Manu. A women’s grievance center will be set up. It will also be mandatory for a parent of the trainees to be present during the training sessions.
