40-year-old arrested for sexual abuse of a toddler; Interior Minister promises strict measures

Vizianagaram: Reacting to the incident in which a six-month-old baby was sexually abused by a 40-year-old man in a village in Ramabhadrapuram area of ​​Vizianagaram district, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that a special court would be set up to take immediate action against the accused.

The incident occurred on July 13, but was not reported until July 14. Police arrested the accused on Sunday.

According to Bobbili DSP K Srinivasa Rao said the accused Boya Erakanna Dora was a farmer and a relative of the victim and he used to visit her home regularly.

When the victim’s mother went shopping on Saturday, the accused came to her house and abused the baby while it was sleeping in a cradle. When the baby started crying, the victim’s 10-year-old sister was alarmed. She came into the room and saw the accused holding the baby, which had blood stains all over it.

She immediately informed the mother, who along with the villagers tried to catch the accused. The baby was taken to a government hospital in Vizianagaram town.

Based on the complaint of the family, the police have registered a case under Section 65(2) of the BNS and relevant sections of the POCSO Act, 2012.

“Dora was drunk at the time of the crime. We have discussed the case and other crimes against children with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. We will take strict action to prevent such incidents in future,” Anitha said.

The Home Minister announced financial assistance of Rs 500,000 to the victim’s family.
