Having a list will save you money because you won’t be tempted to buy random things. Think about what you need. Especially now, after Hurricane Beryl, you may realize that you need more supplies for storm season. For storm cleanup and recovery, you may want to consider yard waste bags, candles, batteries, flashlights, and solar battery chargers.

For back to school, find school supplies, backpacks, socks and underwear, laptops and other electronic devices.

You can also factor in household items you always need, like toilet paper and laundry detergent.

2. “Follow” stores on Amazon

You may not realize it when you buy items on Amazon, but sellers create stores and sell items on Amazon. You can “like” or “follow” stores that you want to get deals from so you can be notified before the sale starts. You may even get special offers.

3. Make sure it’s really a deal

Make sure the deal you see is actually a good deal. Michael Garfield, the High Tech Texan on KPRC radio, recommends using a website called “Keepa” that tracks the price of items you want so you can see how low the item has been in the past.

“He went out and looked at the price over the last three months and he has a daily scale to see with the highest point and the lowest point,” Garfield said.

He says this will help ensure you get the best deal during or after those scorching summer sales.

Websites like Camel Camel Camel and Honey also track prices.

4. Shop at other stores

You can take advantage of Prime Day to shop at other popular stores. Major retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart typically have sales at the same time.

Their prices are often close to what Amazon offers and sometimes they match them – so it’s worth asking.

You can also search for “invitation only” offers.

Warning about purchasing items during Amazon Prime Days

Beware of subscription pitfalls, though. When you buy certain items, they often come with subscriptions like Amazon Kids or Kindle Unlimited.

It may start with a “free trial” that then turns into an expensive package.

You can decline the free trial or set a reminder to close it before you are charged.
